Frequently Asked Questions

WHERE DO I GET MY MARRIAGE LICENSE?

If both of you are residents of the state of Maine, you should both apply at the town office where at least one of you is a resident. If neither of you is a resident of Maine, then you may apply in any Maine town office. It need not be the same town where you plan to be married. Your marriage license is valid for 90 days. HOW MANY GUESTS CAN THE CABINS SLEEP?

In total, our 11 cabins can sleep a maximum of 64 guests. Our Lakeside and Siler Cove Cabins sleep 8 guests each, while our Mini Cabins and Honeymoon Suite sleep 2 guests each. 

DO YOU OFFER SHUTTLES TO NEARBY ACCOMMODATIONS?

We have a small 7-person van available for shuttles to nearby accommodations. Fee for this service may vary. We do not provide shuttle service outside of our immediate area. 

CAN I PROVIDE MY OWN ALCOHOL?

No. We do not allow any outside alcohol on the venue premises. As Maine Lakeside has a liquor license, we supply the liquor available to purchase at all events in the venue area. We have options for cash bar, open bar, or a mixture of the two.

DO YOU HAVE AN IN-HOUSE CATERER OR DO I HAVE THE OPTION OF USING AN OUTSIDER CATERER INSTEAD?

We've partnered with our exclusive caterer, Inn By The River, who is more than happy to work with you to meet your catering needs. They are here to work with you to work around your budget and special dietary needs. They offer options for rehearsal dinners, reception catering, and farewell brunches.

CAN I PROVIDE SOME OF THE FOOD FOR MY RECEPTION, OR DOES IT ALL HAVE TO BE PROVIDED BY A CATERER?

No. We do not allow any outside food, other than wedding cakes and desserts, to be brought in for your reception.

IS THERE A CAKE CUTTING FEE?

Yes, if you choose to have us cut and serve your cake there is an additonal charge. Fee varies based on guest count and service. 

DO YOU HAVE A SET TIME RECEPTIONS MUST END BY?

Receptions must end (bar & lodge closed, music stopped) by 11PM. You are welcome to move the after parties to one of the rented cabins.

ARE THERE ANY NOISE RESTRICTIONS?

As with any venue, we do have neighbors and we respect the need to make sure there is no excessive noise during anytime at our venue. 

ARE THERE ANY DECORATING RESTRICTIONS?

We do not allow the use of non-biodegradable glitter, confetti, stickers or silly string. Rose petals, rice, bird seed and/or sparklers may only be used outside and must be cleaned up after the event. All décor must be approved by the onsite coordinator.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I PLAN AN OUTDOOR CEREMONY AND IT RAINS?

In case of inclement weather, your ceremony will be held in the barn or tent, depending on your preferences and guest count. If you’re also holding your reception in the barn or tent, we will work with you to create a plan that will work for both your ceremony and reception.

DO YOU PROVIDE HEATERS AND/OR UMBRELLAS FOR OUTDOOR SPACES?

Should heaters be necessary in any of the venue areas, we have the ability to supply them.  Subject to the charge for set up and propane costs.

WHAT IS THE PARKING SITUATION?

Our Main Lodge has a large parking lot as well as additonal parking amongst the cabins for those that have rented them.
